All-In For Parky Casino Night
FUNDRAISERS were dealt a good hand after a casino night raised around £6,000 in honour of Boro legend Gary Parkinson.
More than 100 people attended the G Casino in Chandlers Wharf, Stockton, this week for an event in aid of the ex-player.
The evening, organised by former Sunderland footballer Darren Williams and fundraiser Carl O’Hara, is just one of many events to have been held in Gary’s honour.
And around £6,000 was raised on Tuesday night for the Gary Parkinson Trust Fund, which is helping support his recovery from a serious stroke.
Nearly £2,000 of the final total was raised through an auction of signed football shirts.
Gary’s wife, Deborah, said last night: “It’s a tremendous total. The night was fantastic and it was lovely to see some faces I hadn’t seen for some time, including Tony Mowbray.
“I’d like to thank the casino owners and everyone who helped organise the event and the public who supported it. It never ceases to amaze me the marvellous support that Teesside folk always give.
